Yeba. More fun in the Philippines

ZUMBA AND aerobics are so yesterday.  But now, get ready for a new fitness dance that would enlighten your mind on what it is to be a Filipino, and at the same time keep your body in good shape.

Yeba is a fitness program inspired by ethnic dances and original Filipino music. Philippine folk dances from Luzon to Mindanao are used to build a 60-minute dance program, modernized and mixed with a hint of hip-hop, samba and salsa. The dance easily found a following in the country due to its mixing of traditional dances such as “Kalipay”, “Itik-Itik”, “Tinikling” and “Pandanguhan”, and creating one energetic medley that was sure to rival Latin America’s Zumba.

Yeba is developed by Arts in the City, a conglomerate between key members of Tanghalang Pilipino, Ballet Philippines and the Philippine Magdrigal Singers, and their instructors Danny Vinculado and Sherwin Toralde.

Yeba was adopted by the SBCS, a part of their SBCS Week Celebration, for their dance competition last Sep. 16. All levels in their five courses Multimedia Arts, Accountancy, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, and Entrepreneurship joined the competition. And, this promotes the healthy living among students.
