SDCA celebrates 10th Year Anniversary

“Our institution has achieved so much success and we will continue to give you more,” these were the words of Dr. Gregorio A. Andaman Jr., St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) President during the opening ceremony of the SDCA’s 10th Founding Anniversary, Nov. 25.

As a fitting tribute to its 10th year of existence as an academic institution, SDCA executed a one-week program for college and basic education department. The event was also graced by Dr. Marita Andaman-Rillo, Founding President, and Ms. Emeteria Andaman-Sagala, Trustee.
The opening ceremony was highlighted by the field demonstration of the Basic Education Department (BED) joined by Nursery to Grade 9 students.

The program started with an invocation sung by Dexi Heart Musa, Grade 4, entitled “The Prayer” and followed by the singing of the flag raising wherein the SDCA employees and students carried the flag.  It was followed by 
the presentation of contest mechanics and the introduction of the board of judges.  Mr. Jonathan Velustria Sta. Ana, Mr. Christian Tu, Prof. Josefa Dimalanta and Prof. Jayzel Alam served as the contest’s judges.

The competition was divided into different categories and themes. The pre-school took charge with Philippine Festivals, the Primary and Intermediate levels were in a different category but combined in a single theme, the Wonderful World of Disney. Grade 7 students were assigned Philippine Dances, Grade 8 for Asian Dances and Social Dances were performed by the Grade 9 students. 
The winners were announced by Prof. Arlene V. Coronado, Principal. For the pre-school Category, the Ati-atihan Festival performed by Nursery-Hugo Perez was declared winner. Grade 2-Victoriano Lucio with their rendition of Beauty and the Beast was the champion. The Aladdin performance of Grade 4-Francisco Osorio bagged the first place for Intermediate Level. Students of Grade 7-Jose Tagle were proclaimed champion with their Singkil dance while for Asian dance, Grade 8-Julian Felipe’s Chinese Dragon Dance got the top award.  In the social dance category, Grade 9-Emiliano Riego de Dios was declared champion.
