Judy Anne Derla and James Joshua Stephen B. Baria, both from the School of Business and Computer Studies were crowned Mr. and Ms. SDCA: Ambassadors of Goodwill during the Coronation Night, held Nov. 28 at the SDCA Grounds.
Mr. Leon Paul B. Medina (SIHTM) and Vielka Fiona Macalisang (SHSP) were declared first runners-up, while Mr. Prince John L. Oropel (SBCS) and Ms. Joyce Bernadette D. Santiago (SIHTM) won as second runners-up. Both Derla and Baria competed in the Mr. and Ms SBCS pageant wherein they were declared as Ms. SBCS and Mr. SBCS 1st Runner-up, respectively. Winning in the departmental pageant granted them the right to represent their school.
Special awards were also given during the course of the coronation night. Baria won the Male Executive Attire, Male Physique Wear, Male Face of the Year, and Mr. ERaSE Plantcenta 2013. Derla won the Executive Attire, Couture Casual Wear, Best in Talent award, and Face of the Year award female category.
Medina won the People’s Choice award for male while Macalisang won the People’s Choice Award, Globe Choice Award and Ms. ERaSE Voter’s Choice 2013. Oropel won the Evening Attire and Congeniality award, while Santiago won the Evening Wear and the Physique Wear category.
The panel of judges included Jeanne Harn, Ms. Philippines Earth 2007; Jaydielou Dilidili, Ms. Philippines Earth 2012 runner-up; Ms. Earth Cavite 2010 and SDCA Alumni Michelle San Agustin; Gerry Ross Yumping; Dr. Rosemarie Pica, Director of the Rachel Allen Review Center; designer Brian Licuanan, and Manhattan International Film Festival first runner-up Director Perry Escano.
SDCA President Gregorio A. Andaman, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research Dr. Nilda Balsicas, SDCA 10th Founding Anniversary Overall Chairperson Dr. Mary Nellie T. Roa graced the event. School Deans were also present alongside SDCA employees and students.
